The location of our first vineyards in Muskiz, Bakio and Mendata gave us the name of the Winery and our young Txakoli. Mountain slopes from which small corners of the Bay of Bizkaia could be seen gave rise to the name ITSASMENDI (1995). The mirror of our orography where in a small space the sea and the mountains coexist in a harmonious way. Contrast and harmony two aspects very present in all our products.
UREZTI (2001) was born from a risky bet in the production of an innovative product, the first late harvest of the three Txakoli D.O. It is a faithful reflection of what the Atlantic weather gives us every year: a fantastic autumn. The south wind of October and November, with its mild daytime temperatures and cool nights, always under the uncertainty of the appearance of rain, inspired the bertsolari Jon Enbeita this name. It is intended to reflect the sweet flavor of Bizkaia, a symbol of the search for those wonderful virtues often hidden in “rocky” appearances. Obtaining in a rainy area (ur) a sweet wine with honeyed memories (ezti) in a surprising balance between sugar and acidity.
Itsasmendi 7 (2003) was a turning point not only in the Winery but also in the D.O Bizkaiko Txakolina. It was born as another form of expression of a Txakoli, demonstrating that not only can it obtain body and structure, but it can live for several years in the bottle. In this case, the selection was made of a deposit fictitiously called “7” since it is a magical number associated with perfectionism, it is the sign of thought, wisdom and idealism. This Txakoli, like No. 7, establishes a bridge between earth and sky (ideally). It also symbolizes the greatness and diversity of the septenary formed by the sun and its main planets (the 7: the sun, the moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn). In short, the universe in motion.
Artizar (2010) Among these planets there is only one that is visible shortly before dawn or shortly after dusk and is called the morning star or morning star. It is the brightest light in the sky, the first and last to be seen each day (Venus). In the same way, our Artizar represents a product with its own brilliance, a path in the future of our production area, the result of all our respect, work, knowledge and research in the natural environment. Eklipse (2011) Represents the leap from our extensive experience in growing white grapes to the search for the potential of red grapes for the production of a different, quality red wine. The phenomenon of eclipses is unexpected, surprising, and of unusual beauty.
